Soie de Lune (moon silk), was set up in 2001 and is registered in the United Kingdom. Soie de Lune was founded by Daniel Marcus and Anouphanethong Thammavong who formed this partnership not only to create luxurious hand-woven silks but also to join those helping to revive the important tradition of weaving, in danger of being lost to the world of mass production.

Daniel Marcus was born in the United Kingdom in 1960 and works in the field of high-tech and telecommunications. His interest in cloth and silk encouraged him to establish the partnership with Anou where he acts as the investor and business consultant. Daniel and Anou work together to ensure that the company upholds its principles of quality and exclusivity while making sure the company is run on a fair and equitable basis.

Anouphanethong Thammavong was born in Laos in 1971 and was educated in France. His love of design and cloth led him to reestablish the business his grandmother created in Laos many years before, which she was forced to abandon when the family left the country in 1975. In order to develop the business, Anou splits his time between Laos, Europe and the United States.
