The company’s philosophy
The philosophy behind Soie de Lune is to create luxurious hand-woven silks using the time honored traditions that have all but died out in Laos in particular and South East Asia as a whole. The laborious process of preparing the silk together with the complex skills needed to weave it is combined to make an exclusive silk product that has been unavailable in the world until now.
Our patterns, painstakingly reproduced on the world’s finest silks, represent a range of objects from our weavers’ lives, including monsoon rains depicted as deep lines; animals such as elephants and turtles; diamonds and waves and flowers such as water lilies. We draw inspiration from the food we eat, such as rice, and from Buddhist symbols, such as the mythical Naga, or snake.
